Reference Projects Consulting

Advice on the air conditioning of electric vehicles

Customer: Automotive group

The entire heat balance of electric vehicles had to be completely rethought, due to the significantly lower waste heat generated in them. Working closely with the customer, EMCEL developed the details of the interrelationships and put forward suggestions.

Advice on hydrogen safety in urban areas

Customer: Public sector

The use of hydrogen in public transport is new for many cities and transport companies. EMCEL examined the proposed safety measures and procedures and then implemented them together with its customer.

Advice on standards and legislation for H2 storage

Customer: Automotive group

There is currently a wealth of new documentation in terms of standards and legislation relating to uses of fuel cells. EMCEL summarised these documents for the customer and presented them specifically relating to hydrogen storage systems.

Advice on the CE certification of FC systems

Customer: Fuel cell system manufacturer

CE certification is a key element in terms of product liability. EMCEL offered the customer suggestions for product design, operational management and the necessary documentation.

Feasibility study on power-to-gas-to-power

Customer: Energy supply company

A Latin American energy provider was planning energy storage using hydrogen from excess energy from hydroelectric power plants. EMCEL carried out the potential analysis and made suggestions about further improving the profitability of the entire system.

Advice on the development of a FC UPS infrastructure

Customer: Telecommunications technology service provider

Fuel cell systems present a clean and reliable alternative in uninterruptible power supply (UPS). EMCEL supported the use of a fuel cell UPS infrastructure for a range of applications with the development of logistics and safety concepts.

Assistance in designing information brochures

Customer: Public sector

On behalf of a state initiative miscellaneous information brochures with regard to hydrogen and fuel cell applications were created. EMCEL provided detailed information and contributed several comprehensive articles.

Reference Projects Engineering

Design of gas humidifiers for FC test rigs

Customer: Automation technology

Testing the use of new developments as realistically as possible is crucial in the development of fuel cells. EMCEL conceived and designed gas humidifiers for the supply of air and hydrogen for the customer’s test rigs.

Development of a tool for FC product selection

Customer: Technology service provider

Fuel cells are used in many applications for power supply. EMCEL developed a tool, with which it is possible to select tailor-made fuel cell solutions (including tank system) from the market and match them to the customer’s requirements.

Market research of sensor technology and FC system components

Customer: Systems integrator

The specific requirements of fuel cell technology make the selection of sensor technology and system components very difficult. EMCEL supported the customer in its research with its many years of experience, detailed knowledge and understanding of the market.

Development of a desulphurisation unit for FC systems

Customer: Plant engineer

The desulphurisation of the natural gas is crucial in the use of natural gas in fuel cells. EMCEL constructed a desulphurisation unit for the customer and planned the key production steps.

Simulation and specification of stand-alone energy systems

Customer: Construction company

The client wished a renewable energy supply for a luxury holiday home in Spain with no access to the local power grid. EMCEL specified and simulated the system from a solar system, battery, electrolysis, hydrogen tank and fuel cell.

Reference Projects Project Management

Support in the conversion of a production line

Customer: Photovoltaic module manufacturer

Technical innovation and increased cost pressure in the production of photovoltaic modules require advanced production systems. EMCEL coordinated the construction of new manufacturing facilities and the conversion of existing ones on behalf of the customer.

Technical project management and coordination of interfaces

Customer: Systems integrator

Coordination of the various partners from North Africa and Germany in a feasibility study for the energy supply of mobile communication systems in North Africa. EMCEL was responsible for the technical project management and the coordination of interface.

Reference Projects Service

Maintenance and repair of the electric drive train of FC buses

Customer: Bus manufacturer

High demands are placed on availability with the everyday use of buses. EMCEL ensured the operational readiness of the electric drive system with scheduled maintenance and short-term repair measures.

FC vehicle personnel training

Customer: Bus manufacturer

The technical staff had to be specially trained to carry out work on fuel cells and high-voltage systems. EMCEL organised application-based training courses and took over the training of the customer’s employees.

Maintenance, data and error analysis of FC systems in everyday life

Customer: Fuel cell manufacturer

EMCEL carried out maintenance on the fuel cell system at regular intervals and produced test reports for this. In addition, ongoing operational data and errors were analysed and appropriate corrective actions developed where necessary.

We provide comprehensive engineering services in the range of topics of fuel cell, hydrogen and electric mobility. Our areas of expertise include stationary, portable and mobile applications:
